Hot yoga has seen an increase in interest in recent years. I know a lot of people are skeptical about practicing yoga in a hot environment. But in my years of practice and teaching, I have seen first hand the many benefits of practicing yoga in a heated room.
Our heating system consists of 10 ceiling mounted ceramic heating panels that emit far infrared heat. This system is the most effective and efficient system for heated yoga studios. It is a radiant heat source which radiates sun-like warmth to objects rather than air. The advantages of a heated yoga experience can be similar to a detoxifying sauna or deep tissue massage. Some of the many benefits of yoga in a far infrared heated environment include: increased flexibility, reduced pain and inflammation, detoxifying the body, boosts metabolism and can improve immune function.
Some tips for those who want to try a hot yoga class:
- Arrive early so your body adjusts to the heated environment.
- Drink plenty of fluids before, during and after the class.
- Wear lightweight, breathable clothing. Avoid cotton t-shirts, or anything too heavy.
- Don’t over exert – learn how to pace yourself as you adjust to this new experience. Your body will acclimate to the heat over time, but take it slow as you start out.
I hope to see you in a hot yoga class soon!
