Meditation Series
by Jan Holbein
Have you ever tried to meditate only to find that you can’t stop your thoughts or you get a cramp in your leg from sitting on the floor? Maybe you got so bored that you fell asleep or really didn’t see any significant changes so you thought, ‘What a waste of time’.
But, what if I told you that meditation may be worth another try? That even in small doses, meditation can start to reprogram pathways of stress in the mind and body.
So, if you’re looking to start a meditation practice it can be helpful to know some of these basic facts:
- You will have thoughts. And instead of pushing them away, you will learn to acknowledge and allow them to be.
- You have many posture options. Meditation can be done seated on a chair, lying down, or even while walking.
- There are different meditation traditions, so if the first thing you try doesn’t work for you, keep looking!
- Meditation is a practice. You most likely won’t see immediate results and you will have difficult days. But keep going because over time research has shown meditation can result in positive life changes.
If you’re ready to go deeper and want some assistance getting started, join me for the 6 week meditation series starting in January. Details on the schedule here: https://theyogaboothzanesville.com/schedule/.
